We played our old friends Paddock Wood for our first league fixtures on a sunny day at St. Gregs with the ground to ourselves. Stepping up to 7 v7 on the bigger pitches with 15 mins each half made for tiring work for these 8 year olds. However, both teams won their matches; Royals, 3-1 and 4-2 and Ravens 5-1 and 4-1. The games were closer than the scorelines suggest, with Paddock Wood passing the ball very nicely and some composed play. However, the Forresters attacks were fast and decisive with some great finishing. Some work to be done on using all of the space and making the ball do more of the work in passing to conserve energy.
