A hard fought game between two evenly matched sides. The result was only determined in the last 15 minutes of the game.

Rangers United started off at a pace, busy to assert the ascendancy but Invicta stood firm and counter attacked to keep Rangers United interested in the defence.

RU took the lead midway through first half following a period of sustained pressure down the left hand side. A cross came over and the main striker, who was the leading scorer last season finished at the back post.

Wasn't long before Invicta came back at RU working hard down the flanks. Some good defensive work kept Invicta at bay but finally a long range effort beautifully lifted over the goalkeeper got the game back to 1-1

The second half was much the same, played in awful conditions which made the surface fast. Both sides controlled the. ball really well.

In the last 15 minutes RU took the lead with a great piece of ball control from one of the midfielders to guide the ball into an empty net.

Two more goals followed quickly, including a curling shot delivered with the outside of the boot by the main striker, a wonderful goal.

The game was played in high spirts, good hard but fair tackling.

A good way to start off the season.
